Auction markets regained momentum despite long-weekend disruptions: across the combined capitals, the preliminary clearance rate edged up to 71.9% last week, with roughly 1,961 homes auctioned and more than 2,600 scheduled over the coming week. Melbourne was the main driver, posting a 71.6% early clearance rate after 1,169 auctions—a 422% surge following the AFL Grand Final week. Sydney saw auction numbers slump 56% due to the Labour Day and NRL Grand Final but still delivered a 72.4% success rate, while Brisbane clocked 69.3%, Adelaide 78.8%, and the ACT 70.6%. In Adelaide’s western suburb of Findon, a four-bedroom home at 19 Tyrie Ave sold for A$1.339 million—about A$290k above its reserve—drawing 35 registered bidders and over 200 onlookers. The result underscores the continued heat in the market even for "as-is" homes with development potential.
